Hylands School working with dedicated Careers Advisor from Directions

Hylands School is privileged to have a Careers Advisor from Directions working closely with our students to help them navigate their future career pathways. The advisor, Mrs Peters, has been meeting one-on-one with Year 11 students from the start of September and will continue throughout the academic year, offering tailored support and guidance as they prepare for life after school.

Throughout the year, Mrs Peters has been working with Year 11 students to discuss their career aspirations and the steps they need to take in order to achieve their goals. This includes exploring different career paths and providing insights on which subjects are most relevant to their chosen fields. The Careers Advisor also plays a crucial role in assisting students with applications for Sixth Form, Colleges or Apprenticeships, helping them take the next steps toward their future careers.

In addition to offering support for students with clear career goals, Mrs Peters encourages those who may be uncertain about their options to think outside the box. The advisor provides advice on a range of potential career paths and helps students consider all possibilities, giving them the space and guidance to make informed decisions.

Mrs Peters also works closely with the Careers Team at Hylands to ensure a consistent and comprehensive approach to career guidance across all year groups.  Mrs Peters also completes group work in the summer term with Year 10 students to prepare them for the challenges ahead, ensuring they understand what will be expected of them in Year 11. This proactive support gives students the tools and confidence they need to succeed as they begin to shape their futures.

Hylands School is grateful for the partnership with Directions and the ongoing support from Mrs Peters, who plays a vital role in helping our students plan for a successful and fulfilling career.
