Hylands sports teams back in action
Our students have started to enjoy the new equipment we bought with our successful funding bid to the DFE, and last week marked the season debut for two of our hockey teams, with both sides showing great resilience and improvement during their matches.
The U16 boys faced off against Southend High School in a tough encounter. With three debutants in the team, Hylands continued to improve as the match progressed. Despite a solid performance overall, Hylands lost 2 - 0. Player of the match was Goalkeeper Basil, who made several crucial saves.
The U14 mixed team travelled to Maldon for another challenging match against The Plume, who had four county players. Hylands had a difficult first half, but played much better as a team in the second half, and the final score was a 6-2 defeat. Many players, who were unfamiliar with playing on Astro turf, adapted quickly, gaining confidence and executing some excellent passages of play. The players of the match for Hylands were the two goal scorers.
Both teams showed great potential and determination, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
