Kim Adams-Howell

Mrs Adams-Howell is a dedicated and accomplished educator with a passion for music and the creative arts. She holds a BA Honours in Music from the University of Leeds and an MA in Education from the Open University.

Mrs Adams-Howell began her teaching career in 2004, teaching Music and Music Technology. Throughout her career, she has also taught a range of other subjects, including Health and Social Care, English, EPQ, and ICT.

Prior to joining Hylands School in 2016 as Head of Music, Mrs Adams-Howell held senior leadership positions in other schools in Essex, including Head of Music. She was subsequently promoted to Head of the Creative Arts Department and now serves as a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Mrs Adams-Howell particularly enjoys the close-knit community at Hylands, where she has the opportunity to build strong relationships with both staff and students. This smaller school environment provides a more personal and supportive atmosphere compared to her previous experiences in larger institutions.

Outside of school, Mrs Adams-Howell is an active member of the Chelmsford Salvation Army Band, playing the cornet. She is also a keen participant in the weekly Parkrun 5k.
