Sarah Cardy

Miss Cardy is an experienced teacher and leader with a passion for History and student success, and a keen interest in current research surrounding pedagogy. She holds a BA in History from the University of Southampton.

Miss Cardy began her teaching career in 2008 and has a breadth of experience across the Humanities, having taught History, Religious Studies, English, and Business Studies to GCSE level. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of leadership roles, including Head of History, Mentor and Professional Tutor supporting trainees and early career teachers, and Lead Subject Tutor for History trainees within the Trust. As part of her current role as Assistant Headteacher, she leads on Teaching and Learning initiatives across the school.

Miss Cardy thrives on the strong sense of community at Hylands. She values the close relationships teachers build with students, understanding their individual interests and aspirations beyond academics. She is particularly proud of the collaborative spirit among staff and the focus on providing the very best learning experiences for all students. Miss Cardy finds great satisfaction in her interactions with students, particularly through Student Voice sessions, where they actively contribute to shaping their learning. The school's Library and Resource Centre holds a special place in her heart, serving as a vibrant hub for students from all backgrounds.

Outside of school, Miss Cardy enjoys exploring the outdoors, especially paddleboarding with friends and family. She is also a keen theatre-goer and an avid reader.
