Attendance and Punctuality
Hylands school values punctuality and good attendance very highly. Please refer to the details and downloads below for further information.
If a pupil is not fit to be in school, the school requires the parent/carer to telephone the school each day of the absence before 8am, giving the reason for the absence and when you expect your child to return to school. The telephone system allows callers to leave a message at any time.
Please note if your child has been absent for more than three days you will be asked for evidence that your child is unfit for school, for example a Doctors unfit for work declaration.

Leave of absence during term time
Taking a leave of absence during term time will only be authorised under exceptional circumstances in accordance with the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013. Please provide a cover letter explaining why you would like your child to have a leave of absence during term time and attach it to the application form for the attention of Miss M Antwis.
Any student arriving between 8.30am and 8.50am should go straight to their tutor room (or lesson1 on a Tuesday.)
All students arriving after 8:30 am should sign in at student reception. If a student arrives after 9:30 am it will be an unauthorised lateness.
Students who are repeatedly late will be expected to attend a detention and further sanctions will be applied if lateness continues.
Medical and dental appointments are only authorised if medical evidence has been provided, for example: appointment cards. If medical evidence has not been provided the appointment will be unauthorised.
